A Chic Black & White Baby Shower at Bonaventure Brewing Co.

8/18/2025

Baby showers are all about celebrating new beginnings, but that doesn’t mean they have to look the same every time. We recently hosted Baby Agunenye’s shower in our garden patio at Bonaventure Brewing Co., and it was the perfect example of how a little creativity can turn a traditional gathering into something chic, personal, and fun.
A Memorable Welcome
Guests were greeted by a bold black and white welcome sign that read Son Day, Fun Day alongside balloon boxes spelling out BABY. It was a playful entrance that immediately set the tone and gave everyone a reason to stop for a quick photo.
Tip: A welcome sign is one of the simplest ways to pull your theme together. Pair it with balloons or florals for instant impact.
Food and Drinks Everyone LovedOne of the highlights of the afternoon was the taco bar. Guests could build their own plates with fresh tortillas, flavorful fillings, and plenty of toppings. It added a casual, interactive element that kept the vibe relaxed while making sure everyone was well-fed.

At the bar, guests had even more to look forward to. In addition to a full range of spirits, the parents-to-be created a signature cocktail list. Options included Mommy’s Little Mojito, The Little Diplomat, and a refreshing Jameson and Ginger Ale. For guests skipping alcohol, a mocktail mojito made sure no one felt left out.
Tip: Food and drink stations double as entertainment. A taco bar or signature cocktail menu keeps things interactive and memorable.

A Photo Spot with Personality
The photo backdrop was a showstopper. Clusters of oversized black and white balloons, complete with bowtie accents, framed a perfect corner of the garden. Guests took turns posing against the backdrop with the downtown LA skyline peeking through.
Tip: A designated photo spot is a must. Choose one strong décor element that ties into your theme, and it will naturally become the center of attention.

Sweet Finishes
The dessert table was beautifully styled with trays of cupcakes, white florals, and a wooden “blessed” sign. It was a simple yet heartfelt setup that reminded everyone of the meaning behind the celebration.
Tip: Don’t overthink desserts. A single display with cupcakes or one main treat can feel just as special as a full spread when styled thoughtfully.

Why This Shower Worked So Well
This event struck the perfect balance between stylish and approachable. The black and white theme gave everything a polished look, while details like the taco bar and mocktail mojito kept it fun and inclusive. Add in the natural greenery of the garden patio and the energy of downtown Los Angeles, and you had a setting that felt both intimate and unforgettable.

Planning Your Own Baby Shower
If you’re planning a shower, take inspiration from this celebration:
  • Pick one clear theme or color palette
  • Personalize the food and drinks
  • Create at least one photo-worthy backdrop
  • Add a small detail with meaning, like a word or phrase that ties the day together
When those elements come together, you don’t just get a party... you create an experience your guests will remember.
